Longing for the Wild

Reblogging this one because my heart is doing that thing again. The Letaba-river-breakfast kind of thing.

It’s been too long since I sat with dust on my shoes and nowhere to be.

I keep thinking about mornings like this one — engine still ticking as it cools, coffee going lukewarm, eyes on the bush waiting for it to move. You don’t chase sightings out there. You just wait, and eventually the bush hands you something you’ll never forget.

Kruger does that. Gives you lions and hyena stand-offs over breakfast like it’s nothing. Gives you silence so full it’s loud.

I miss the not-knowing what today will bring. The poor signal, the red dust on everything, the sky doing that impossible blue.

It is well with my soul out there. Always has been.

Missing it today. Will get back soon…..
